Freelance Writing FAQs
What are your rates?
I create custom quotes based on the needs of every client. I usually charge on a per project basis for long-form copy, including blog posts, ebooks, guides, white papers, and more. My rates are based on the time it takes to create content, my expertise, content marketing knowledge, and the valuable marketing deliverables.
When can we get started with the freelance writing project?
I usually need a week of lead time before getting started.
How do revisions work?
For each project, I provide one round of free revisions. That means that once you receive assets, you can go through and make suggestions on the Google Doc. Once I receive your requests, I will make the necessary changes. I will give everything a tight copy edit, but the ultimate round of revisions and final approval is the responsibility of your in-house editor or Director of Content.
How do you manage your projects?
Here is my process as a freelance writer.
Planning. I like to hop on a kick-off call to talk about project goals, marketing goals, and processes. Once we’ve had a kick-off call, I will send you a contract to sign. As soon as you sign the contract, I will send a content brief for you to fill out.
Research and outlining. I will read up on everything having to do with your business and your industry. If necessary, I will also interview you, your team, industry experts, and your customers to get a sense of the subject matter. In the planning phase, I present exactly what the project will entail in the form of an outline for your approval. The outline will also include some on-page SEO details.
Writing. Once you have approved the outline, I will start writing. You should expect 3-7 business days for turnaround or whatever terms we negotiated in the contract.
Revisions. I make revisions and changes based on your feedback. The first round of revisions is included in the price.
What tools do you use?
I use Calendly to schedule meetings and Zoom for online meetings. I deliver copy in Google Docs, and use Trello for project management. I also use a host of research, writing, marketing, and SEO tools.
How do payments and invoicing work?
When billing per project, 50% is due upfront, and the rest is paid upon completion. When billing per word, I bill at the end of the month for all work completed during the month. You can pay via credit card, bank transfer, check, or Venmo.
